Ballymartin Community Youth Club Notes on Sunday 26th October 2014 -

*   Youth club resumes next Thursday 6th Nov for 3rd years upwards @ 7pm-8.30pm.  The first night will be a night for planning your sessions, so get your thinking caps on.   
*   On Friday 7th November from 7pm-8.30pm Primary Four to Primary Sevens.  Re-opening with a disco - DJ Tiny.  
*   On Friday 7th November from 8.30pm-10pm the 1st & 2nd years . getting ideas for future sessions.
*   All old & new members very welcome to all sessions.  Anyone who hasn't yet registered can do so on the first night (£7 registration and £1 per session).   
*   We are looking for new helpers to volunteer within the youth, if you can spare even one evening per month your help would be greatly appreciated.  Please contact Patricia 07732936457 for more information.   
*   Our Youth Club ‘80s Reunion Fundraising Night was a great success, the Committee would like to thank everyone involved in planning, running and supporting the night, to all the local business who donated prizes for the raffle and to staff of the Ballymartin Inn. Total raised £755.00.
*   Youth Action will be running the new OCNNI Level 2 Award in “Introduction to Youth Work“.  It is worth 11 CREDITS.  This replaces the old Introduction to Youth Work.  The Level 2 Award is around ‘context and theory’ and will need to be followed up with the Level 2 Certificate which is more about programme development  (running a project in your club)’ the second half of the old Youth Work training.  If anyone is interested put your name forward to Patricia Green on Thursday night.  Dates are not yet set but should commence the training at the mid/end of November.

Well its getting close to that time of year for Ballymartin Community Youth Club to open its doors.  Registration night will be within the next couple of weeks and we will notify everyone soon.  Firstly we have some fundraising to sort out... Did you go to the Ballymartin Youth Club Discos in the 1980's?  Well, we are holding an '80s Reunion Night in Ballymartin Inn on the 18th October from 8PM till Late.  A voluntary contribution of £5 per ticket is asked and tickets are available from committee members and available at the Ballymartin Inn,  Please spread the word to those that remember or need a reminding of the 'Good Oul Days'.  Prizes to be won - Fancy Dress optional.  Contact Meadhbh 07936257479 or Patricia 07732936457 for details.

Ballymartin COMMUNITY YOUTH Club Notes on Sunday 5th October 2014 -


*   Registration night for Ballymartin Community Youth Club takes place this Friday 10th October from 7pm till 8pm £7.00 per youth member.  Parents and/or guardians are required on Registration Night.  The Youth  members should also come along when registering so you can put your views across of what you would like to have included in each session.   
*   The Ballymartin Community Youth Club Committee are also looking for new volunteers, to assist on Youth Club Nights and on any planned trips, this will involve a back-ground check.   
*   The Youth Club will resume in November; Thursday nights will be for the Third Years and up.  While on the Friday we will be running two groups as in previous years.  The 1st session - Primary Four to Primary Seven with the 2nd session is for the 1st & 2nd Years.   
*   The word “Community” in Our name means we are for the entire Community!  All old & new members are very welcome and don‘t forget to tell your friends, bring them along.

Ballymartin Community Youth Clubon Sunday 11 March 2012 -

*   The Committee would like to thank Mike from the “World of Owls” for his wonderful display of animals and the background information and knowledge that he shared with the enthusiastic youngsters of the Junior Youth Club; Barn Owl, Eagle Owl, Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and a snake.   Mike was slightly overwhelmed by the knowledge of some of the group – notably that of Callum Turner & Cormac Phillips; who got themselves a free pass to the World of Owls HQ in Randalstown, Co. Antrim.  

*   On Friday past; 28 members of the senior Youth Club enjoyed the trip to Downpatrick’s Eclipse Cinema.  The committee would like to thank the parents on their well behaved children, thank you to Maureen, Patricia and Kate for mentoring the children on the trip.  

*   Nine of our secondary group are completing an OCN level 1 course in 'leadership in youth work' with the SELB youth service, this Friday they will be completing an assessment to plan and run an activity, this assessment will be assessed during the primary school session.  Erin - bun making, Joseph - art and painting, Ruth & Caitlin - card making, Joanne & Roma - crafts, Michael, Jordan & Geoffrey - party games. (Good luck to al, they will need it).

*   Congratulations to Maureen our SELB youth coordinator in scooping a runners up prize in the Outstanding Achievement Category at the young people's awards in community safety, awarded by Newry & Mourne District Council.  This was a programme she run with the Scrogg Rd Youth Development, also congratulations to Joseph on completing this course.

*   The Youth Club Committee are organising a massive event to raise some vital funds for the Ballymartin Community Youth Club.  This will include a table quiz in Ballymartin Inn, with a raffle filled with Brilliant prizes after the quiz all topped off with Tinys Disco.  If any individual or business would lie to contribute please contact a committee member or call in to the hall on Pats Road on Friday evening between 7 and 10pm.  You can like us on facebook.com/pages/Ballymartin-Community-Youth-Club/161740643860154

*   Last week the Junior youth group were to get some flying entertainment from the “World of Owls”, unfortunately they had a transport issue BUT they have promised that they will make it this Friday night.  They will be bringing with them a selection of birds and animals that they have in their sanctuary.  They will give a short talk about the work they do and the children will get to ask questions and interact with the birds and animals.  http://www.worldofowls.com  

*   Last Friday night the Senior group had a visit from PSNI Community Policing, Constable Stan; who delivered an engaging talk on hate crime and violence.

*   Well done to all the members that travelled to the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre in Newry, to take part in both the ‘Team Quiz’ and the ‘Team Challenge’, pictured are; Michael, Joseph, Jordan, Erin, Geoffrey & William who came 3rd in the Team Challenge Finals & to Michael, Niall, Dominic, & Daniel who came 2nd in the quiz section of the SELB youth clubs finals, congratulations to the great performance put in by all and thanks to those who travelled up with the youngster, giving up their Saturday and thanks to the SELB for organising the event.  This type of event is great for the youth to get out and meet, compete and interact with other young groups from different areas and backgrounds, giving them self-esteem and confidence.  

*   The senior youth club group will be travelling to the Eclipse Cinemas Downpatrick; where they will have the chance to see one of the following movies (subject to change) The Woman in Black 12A‎‎, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 12A‎‎, The MuppetsU‎‎, The Artist PG‎‎, The Vow 12A‎‎.  The bus will be stopping a stop at the Downe Retail Parkon the Ballyduggan Road for a visit to the fast food outlet.  The Bus for the trip will be covered; however the children will be required to pay for the movie and any snacks and foods they wish to purchase.  Bus leaves Pats Road at 6pm and will be due home at 10pm (approx).

Ballymartin Community Youth Clubon Sunday 26 February 2012 -

This was part of the SELB’s Cultural Awareness Programme.  On this trip they also visited the Islamic Centre Mosque in Belfast.  Thanks to S.E.L.B.’s; Maureen O’Gorman, Youth Outreach Worker who organised this and other trips for the Youth Club.   

Ballymartin Community Youth Club on Sunday 19 February 2012 -

*   An enjoyable evening was had by the secondary school group who travelled to Belfast on Thursday evening; where they visited both the Islamic and Jewish Community Centres in Belfast.  

*   This week they will be involved in a ‘Graffiti Art’ session at the youth club (Parents/Guardians please understand that there may be paints involved on Friday and that the children should not be wearing their best clothing).  This session will be at the EARLIER time of 5pm - 7pm.  The Primary school session as normal 7pm - 8.30pm. ‘Arts, Crafts and jewellery making’ or just chill out time.  

*   Anyone interested in taking part in the Y Factor on Tuesday 28th (in JIMS), please let us know at this Friday nights session.  


Ballymartin Community Youth Club on Sunday 12 February 2012 -

*   Secondary school age group are going to the Jewish & Islamic centre on tomorrow Thursday 16th.  The bus leaves youth club @ 4.30pm, returning at approx. 10.30pm.  There will be a convenience stop at one of the fast food outlets; therefore children should bring money for burgers and chips.   As the majority of the second group will be going on this field trip there will be NO Youth Club for the second group on Friday night. 

*   Youth club as normal for primary school age on Friday 7pm - 8.30 pm.  Due to the SECONDARY school group going on their trip on Thursday there WON'T be any youth club for them on Friday, therefore all children from the first group must be collected @ 8:30pm sharp, when the youth Club will close.  

*   A team of six are representing the youth club on Tuesday 21st in a “Team Challenge” event hosted by the SELB.  Details will be given tomorrow Thursday night.  Good luck!!!


Ballymartin Community Youth Club on Sunday 5 February 2012 -

 Attached image; YC Visit Indian Centre Belfast.jpg,  - A group of 30 boys and girls that attended the Indian Community Centre in Belfast  on Friday night.  This was part of the SELB’s Cultural Awareness Programme.  The boys and girls had a great time learning about the Indian culture and tasting their different foods.

*   The SELB are running a ‘team challenge’ event on Tuesday 21st February, aged 14+, if you are interested in representing Ballymartin Community Youth Club, please let us know on Friday night.   

*   The ‘Y factor’ talent show (opened to both primary & secondary school age Children), will be taking place in JIMS on Tuesday 28th February, anyone interested in singing, poem telling, dancing, playing an instrument etc. please let us know.  More details to follow!!!  

*   Youth club as normal this week - card making, top hats & bun decorating for Valentine's day. 

 


Ballymartin Community Youth Club on Sunday 29 January 2012 -

*   The senior group from the Youth Club will be visiting The Indian Community Centre in Belfast on Friday the 3rd February.  Children attending the trip must have their consent forms completed and brought with them to the Youth Club in time for a 4:30pm departure – returning @ 10:00pm.  There will be a convenience stop at one of the fast food outlets; therefore children should bring money for burgers and chips.   As the majority of the second group will be going on this field trip there will be NO Youth Club for the second group on Friday night.  All children from the first group must be collected @ 8:30pm, when the youth Club will close until the senior group return around 10:00pm.

Ballymartin Community Youth Club on Sunday 8 January 2012 -

*   The Youth Club took 20 members of the Senior Group to the YMCA Greencastle on Saturday past for a team building exercise.  This event was facilitated by Maureen O’Gorman, S.E.L.B Youth Outreach Worker as part of an 8 week programme


Ballymartin Community Youth Clubon Sunday 8 January 2012 -

 

*   The Youth Club restarts this Friday 13th @7pm-8.30pm for P4 - P7 children and 8.30pm-10pm for secondary school age.  Looking forward to seeing you all there.  

 

*   Secondary school age session will be taking part in a 11 week programme to develop their knowledge and understanding of community relations, equality and diversity.   Week 1: Recruitment & introduction to the programme, consent forms will be given at this session so please ALL attend. 

 

*   The S.E.L.B are running an OCN level 1 accredited course in youth leadership (cost of £10), anyone aged 15+ interested in taking part in this course please contact Patricia 07732936457 or Maryann   07742486979 for an application form.  This is an 8 week course on a Monday night, starting Monday 23rd January.  This course will develop youth leadership skills, good to have for your C.V and also for the future off your youth club.

 


Ballymartin Community Youth Club Notes on Sunday 11 Decemeber -

*   This week Friday 16 December, The Youth Club will be holding the Christmas Disco.  Come along and join in the fun!!!!   Same time as normal for each session; 7 – 8.30 & 8.30 – 10pm.

*   The Youth Club will be closed on 16 December, reopening on Friday 13 January in the New Year.  Happy Holidays to one and all.

Ballymartin Community Youth Club Notes on Sunday 20 November -

*   The Youth Club have organised trips to the cinema for all members.  Secondary school age members are going on Friday night the 25th November to see Tower Heist (12A) and primary school members P4/P7 are going on Saturday 26th November to see Arthur Christmas.  Times to be confirmed.  There will be no Youth Club on Friday the 25th for the primary school age group.


Ballymartin Community Youth Club Notes on Sunday 27 November -

 

*   Image Above; The 31 Ballymartin Community Youth Club Members from the Secondary Schools group who attended Newry Cinema and watched Tower Heist on Friday 25 Nov. AND The 29 Members from the Primary Schools group who attended Newry Cinema and watched Arthur Christmas on Saturday 26 Nov.  

*   On Friday last, the Youth Club had a road trip to Newry, where 31 Club Members from the Secondary Schools group attended the cinema and watched Tower Heist.  The supervisors present came back, well impressed with glowing reports on the splendidly well behaved group. 

*   On Saturday the Primary 4 to Primary 7 Club Members, took their turn on the bus trip to the cinema to see Arthur Christmas.  Again there was nothing but glowing reports on the children’s good behaviour.  This is a credit to the parents and thanks to the efforts of the Ballymartin Community Youth Club and its Committee and to Ballymartin GAC for the use of the hall, to give the children of the community an outlet. 

*   This Friday night Fitness Freddy will be attending both sessions of the youth club, he will be talking on healthy living through fitness & dance.  Everyone please wear comfortable clothes/trainers. P4 - P7 children 7pm - 8.30pm, secondary school age 8.30pm - 10pm.  Come along and join in on the fun!!!!


Ballymartin Community Youth Club Notes on Sunday 13 November -

 

*   Ballymartin Community Youth Club is back in full swing on Friday evenings for P4 to P7 from 7.00pm to 8.30pm and Secondary schools from 8.30pm to 10.00pm.  Anyone who has not yet registered can do so on Friday, registration fee is £5.00 with £1.00 weekly subscriptions. The Youth Club is open to all pupils from Primary 4 upwards, please come along and see what we have to offer.  On Friday past, there was bun and sweet making, followed by dodge ball. 

 

*   The Youth Club have organised trips to the cinema for all members. Secondary school age on  Friday nite the 25th November to see Tower Heist 12A and primary school P4/P7  on Saturday 26th November to see Arthur Christmas. Times to be confirmed.  There will be no Youth Club on Friday the 25th for the primary school age group.

All permission forms and money to be returned this Friday 18th November to confirm place.

The Youth Club is open to all pupils from Primary 4 upwards.  We will be reopening with a disco on Halloween night Monday 31st Oct  P4 / P7 from 7pm to 8.30pm.  P1 to P3’s can attend the disco provided they are accompanied by parent /guardian.   Secondary school disco times 8.30pm / 10.00pm.
